About the Denver Broncos
Since 1960 the Denver Broncos have grown into a team that is followed
by legions of football fans throughout the Rocky Mountain region
and the United States. An original franchise of the American Football
League, the Denver Broncos captured their first World Championship
by virtue of a 31-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Super
Bowl XXXII. The next year, the Broncos won a second title. The Denver
Broncos remain the last NFL franchise to win back-to-back Super
Bowls. For more information on the Denver Broncos, visit the official
Denver Broncos
Website.
Denver Broncos call Invesco Field at Mile High home
On Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, voters in the six-county area that comprises
Metro Denver approved a plan to construct a new football stadium
in Denver. Construction began on the Broncos new 76,125-seat stadium
in mid-1999. The final game in the 41-year history of the old Broncos
stadium, Mile High Stadium, took place Saturday, December 23, 2000,
when the Broncos defeated the San Francisco 49ers 38-9. Invesco
Field at Mile High is located near where Mile High Stadium used
to stand. The cost of the Broncos new stadium was covered by Broncos
Owner and Chief Executive Officer Pat Bowlen and the taxpayers of
the six-county area. The site upon which Mile High Stadium formerly
stood now features grass, trees and landscaped parking lots. The
new fan-friendly stadium features seats in close proximity to the
field, as well as steel treads and risers that can be used to create
the same deafening "Rocky Mountain Thunder" that helped
define Mile High Stadium. The Broncos stadium includes 1.7 million
square feet of space (approximately twice that of Mile High). For
more information on Invesco Field at Mile High, visit the official
Denver Broncos
Website.
