About the Dallas Cowboys
On December 27, 1959, Clint Murchison, Jr., and Bedford Wynne signed
N.Y. Giants defensive assistant Tom Landry to a personal services
contract with the intention of naming him Dallas' head coach once
they were awarded an expansion franchise by the NFL. After they
were awarded the franchise, the Cowboys played as a "swing"
team, playing every other team once during their first season. In
August of 1959, the Cowboys, less than six month in existence, got
their first test and dropped a 16-10 preseason game to San Francisco
in Seattle. In their Dallas debut, in the Salesmanship Club preseason
game, the Cowboys led the world champion Baltimore Colts into the
final minute before a 62-yard pass from Johnny Unitas to Lenny Moore
gave the Colts a 14-10 victory. The Cowboys' first Super Bowl game
would be against the Colts in 1971. For more information on the

Dallas Cowboys call Texas Stadium home
Texas Stadium, located in Irving, Texas, is the proud home of the
Dallas Cowboys. The stadium's field was replaced in 2002 with an
artificial surface called "Real Grass" by Sportfield.
Texas Stadium seats 65,595 Cowboys fans. In addition to hosting
Dallas Cowboys games, Texas Stadium plays host to a variety of events
year-round including concerts, Supercross, festivals, carnivals,
College Football, and High School Football. It opened its doors
in 1971 with the Billy Graham Crusade. The Corral is a tent located
outside Gate 8 of Texas Stadium. It is open 3 hours before each
Cowboys game with live music, entertainment, food and beverages
and stays open during and 2 hours after each game. For more information
on Texas Stadium, visit the official Dallas
Cowboys Website.
