About the Team
The Seattle SuperSonics joined the NBA for the 1967-68 season and reached the upper echelon of the league during two different decades. The Sonics first reached the top of the mountain in the late 1970s. They reached the NBA Finals in two straight seasons, winning the crown in 1978-79 with an efficient team of interchangeable players led by Jack Sikma, Fred Brown, Dennis Johnson, and Gus Williams and coached by the undemonstrative Lenny Wilkens. After an up-and-down decade in the 1980s, Seattle was resurgent in the 1990s. At the close of the 1999-00 season the SuperSonics they were going to the playoffs for the ninth time in ten years.
About the Stadium
Key Arena, located at 305 Harrison Street in the lower Queen Anne area of Seattle.
It opened Oct 26, 1995 and hosted its first SuperSonics game Nov 4, 1995. The arena
has a capacity of 17,000. It houses an eight sided video board with four 5 x 5 modular
video screens. Providing premiere seating and a comfortable atmosphere, the Executive Suite Level at KeyArena bestows every Sonics fan with a rewarding and memorable experience.
